چکیده

The mean absolute brightness temperature of the diffuse radio background was measured as a function of frequency in a continuous band between 100 and 200 MHz over an effective solid angle of ∼ π str at high Galactic latitude. A spectral brightness temperature index of β = 2.5 ± 0.1 (αS = 0.5) was derived from the observations, where the error limits are 3σ and include estimates of the instrumental systematics. Zenith drift scans with central declination δ = −26.5◦ and spanning right ascensions 0 < α < 10 h yielded little variation in the mean spectral index. The mean absolute brightness temperature at ν = 150 MHz was found to reach a minimum of T = 237 ± 10 K at α = 2.5 h. Combining these measurements with those of Haslam et al. (1982) yields a spectral index of β = 2.52± 0.04 between 150 < ν < 408 MHz. Subject headings: Galaxy: general — techniques: spectroscopic — radio continuum: general

Intermittent jet activity in the radio galaxy 4 C 29 . 30 ?

We present radio observations at frequencies ranging from 240 to 8460MHz of the radio galaxy 4C29.30 (J0840+2949) using the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), the Very Large Array (VLA) and the Effelsberg telescope. We report the existence of weak extended emission with an angular size of ∼520 arcsec (639 kpc) within which a compact edge-brightened double-lobed source with a size of 29 arc...

A Multifrequency Analysis of the Polarized Diffuse Galactic Radio Emission at Degree Scales

The polarized diffuse Galactic radio emission, mainly synchrotron emission, is expected to be one of the most relevant source of astrophysical contamination at low and moderate multipoles in cosmic microwave background polarization anisotropy experiments at frequencies ν ≤ 50÷100 GHz. We present here preliminary results based on a recent analysis of the Leiden surveys covering about 50% of the ...

Low - Frequency study of two clusters of galaxies : A 2744 and A 2219

Aims. Spectral index images can be used to constraint the energy spectrum of relativistic electrons and magnetic field distribution in radio halos and relics, providing useful information to understand their formation, evolution and connection to cluster merger processes. Methods. We present low-frequency images of the two clusters of galaxies: A2744 and A2219, in which a wide diffuse emission ...

The supernova remnant CTA1 (G119.5+10.3): a study of the breakout phenomenon

The supernova remnant (SNR) CTA1 has been observed with the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory Synthesis Telescope, at 1420 MHz and 408 MHz, and with the Effelsberg 100 m telescope at 1420MHz. Angular resolution of the final maps is 1′ and 3.5′ at 1420 and 408 MHz respectively. New HIRES infrared observations with a resolution of about 1′ are also presented. Using those new observations, ...

Radio Spectral Index Variations of the SNR HB3

We present images of the SNR HB3 at both 408 MHz and 1420 MHz from the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey mainly based on data from the Synthesis Telescope of the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory. We reproduce the 100m-Effelsberg HB3 image at 2695 MHz at large scale, and find that there exists a background emission gradient across the HB3 area. Based on our analysis of background emission a...
